SkinOwl Lavender Drops: An Honest Review

When I restock on my beauty and skin care items, I like to do it when Credo Beauty has some sort of deal going on. My most recent purchase included a gift bag full of various full size and sample size products. I like taking advantage of these deals because it’s a great way to try new products without wasting money.

This gift bag was a particularly good one (I’ve gotten about three at this point) because there were a lot of skin care goodies, one of which was the SkinOwl Lavender Drops.

To preface, I have sensitive skin that leans to the dry side. I utilize a variety of facial oils and am always looking for new additions to my routine. Upon researching this oil, I found reviews to be mixed. Many people say this oil clears acne, calms their skin, and reduces the appearance of fine lines, while others say they see no real difference or the batch they received smells rancid.

I’m going to break down each of these claims and give you my honest opinion on whether I recommend this oil or not.

Acne-Clearing

I personally do not feel this claim is accurate. Though my skin is usually clear, I do suffer from hormonal acne on my chin area. This oil did not do much in the way of clearing any of my blemishes, but it is worth noting it did not add to any new blemishes either. I would say not to hold your breath if you are purchasing this to clear your acne. I am also a bit confused by this claim as none of the ingredients seem to contain any acne-clearing properties.

Skin-Calming

As I stated, I have pretty sensitive skin that is usually a bit red. This oil DID do a great job of calming my skin. Though I will always have red undertones, this oil helped to reduce the redness slightly and soothed any dry spots I had. 10/10 on this claim!

Fine-Line Reduction

I am 27 and suffer from slight fine lines around my eye area. I make sure to consistently heavily-moisturize these areas, and using this oil seemed to make about as much of a difference as any of my other products. I would say there is some truth to this claim, but I’m not sure how much your fine lines can realistically be reduced from an oil alone.

Rancid Smell

I can only speak from my experience, but the oil I received has a very pleasant lavender smell. There is nothing rancid-smelling about the bottle I have. If you are sensitive to essential oils or lavender (obviously), I would shy away. The scent is not overwhelming, but it is definitely strong.

My Thoughts

A 2 oz bottle is $48.00 on Credo Beauty’s website (I’ll list a couple coupon codes below to help). If you have sensitive skin, I definitely think this product is worth adding to your skincare routine, as the calming properties alone are wonderful. Overall, I give this oil a 9/10. I do wish the acne-clearing properties everyone claims it has worked for me, but maybe it will work for you!

  1. Thanks for the review, I hadn’t heard of this line or product before. I do like lavender in my skin care. It is anti-bacterial and helps unclog pores, so maybe that’s why it helps with acne for some folks. I once had a big scratch down my arm from a friends over enthusiastic Lab. I put a few drops of lavender essential oil on the scratch and it was gone in a few hours. After that I started adding it to my skin creams. The scent does take some getting use too. I will definitely check out this line. Thanks and Be Well!
